There are several categories based on age. The distances vary for the age group. Please plan to stick-around and cheer all the racers. Let’s support these kiddos!! For many of them, this is their first race experience and we want to ensure a positive one.

The sign-up form also has volunteer opportunities. We need assistance at check-in, at the start/finish, as a parking lot attendant, as a course marshal, and at awards.

Note: sign up for the age category that they will be on race day OR if they’d like to race a longer distance they can move up to a higher category (moving to a lower age category is not allowed.

Age 2 (Balance Bike):  0.25 mile course- fire road and small section of Gateway

Age 3 (BB):  0.5 mile course- 1 Gateway loop

Age 4 (BB): 0.5 mile course- 1 Gateway loop

Age 4 (Pedal Bike): 0.75 mile course- fire road + 1 Gateway loop

All groups below are pedal bike:

Age 5:  0.75 mile course- fire road + 1 Gateway loop

Age 6:  1.5 mile course – fire road + both Gateway loops

Age 7:  1.5 mile course – fire road + both Gateway loops

Age 8 (group 1: short course): 1.5 mile course – fire road + both Gateway loops

Age 8 (group 2: long course):  3 mile course – fire road + both Gateway loops x2

Age 9:  3 mile course – fire road and both Gateway loops x2

Age 10: 3 mile course – fire road and both Gateway loops x2

Address
The GPS address is: 7298 Courthouse Rd., Chesterfield, VA 23832. Parking in this lot is limited. It is best if you can carpool or, for older racers, please consider parking at the pool parking lot within the main park (off State Park Rd) and ride the 1.5 miles up to the Swift Creek trails.

The Race
This race will cap at 80 total racers. All races will start on the gravel fire road from the
parking lot and proceed to the Gateway trails. All races stay on the Gateway trails. This race will not be timed. Places are determined in order of finish for each category/heat. Each participant will receive a bib number, sticker, and ribbon.

Plan Ahead
Check-in will be open from 4:00-7:30. Plan to arrive at least 30 minutes before the estimated start time for your child’s category in order to check-in and get ready.

Volunteers should plan to arrive 15 minutes before the time listed on the sign-up form. Check-in will be at the back of the parking lot on Courthouse Road.

Helmets are required! It’s recommended that you also bring: a water bottle/hydration, pre/post-race snacks, and bug spray.
